Jim was first elected to the Legislature in 2018 and has championed massive state budget cuts, the right to life, protecting our Second Amendment, and advocating for conservative values. “It’s been my honor to serve in the State Capitol. I’m proud of the work we’ve done to shrink the size of government, grow education and career opportunities in our state, and put money back in taxpayers’ wallets," said Jim. “I look forward to continuing to make Arkansas the best place to live, conduct business, and raise a family.”

In the 95th General Assembly, Jim serves on the House Insurance and Commerce Committee, House Revenue and Taxation Committee, and the Joint Budget Committee. He has led the charge to support the agriculture industry, streamline processes and enhance functionality of local governments, and improve healthcare coverage in Arkansas.

Prior to serving as State Representative, Jim earned over 50 years of experience in business and service. He is the founder and former owner of Tiger Mart, Inc., a statewide chain of convenience stores and truck centers. Jim opened the first location in Beebe in 1986. He also worked with five Arkansas Governors in several positions and commissions, including as a State Trooper, the Director of the Department of Commerce, and Director and Chief Fiscal Officer at the Department of Finance and Administration.

Jim has long prioritized public service. He led the Arkansas Good Roads Foundation as President for 20 years and is the longest-serving Board Member of Economics Arkansas since 1979. Locally, Jim has served as Chairman of the Beebe Public Education Foundation, the Police Employee Foundation, and the Industrial Development Commission. He is also a past President of the Beebe Chamber of Commerce and served as an Assistant Coach and stats keeper for the Beebe Badger football program for 25 years.

Jim and his wife Lisa are members of First Baptist Church in Beebe. Together, they have four adult children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
